1) document Calcutta dated 1 may 1830 court of insolvent debtors, before sir Charles Edward Grey knight chief
justice of the supreme court, whereby Henry Howard in garrison at fort William province of Bengal, band master
of the 16e regiment Infantry petition for relief because what he owes is double what he owns in estate and effects.
Court will appoint assignee and place advertisement in newspaper preventing him ending in prison or pursued

2) document Calcutta dated 20 october 1831 court of insolvent debtors, before sir Edward Ryan knight justice of
the supreme court, in case of insolvency John Palmer and company, whereby sir Charles Theophilus Metcalfe
baronet request to be removed from the assigneeship which was approved by the court. The court ordered the
examiner Patrick O’Hanlon to publish in 3 different times this order in the Governement Gazette. With it letter
dated 18 november 1831 from examiner O’Hanlon that he has published the order on 3 different times in the

3) document Calcutta dated 2 february 1833 court of insolvent debtors, before sir Edward Ryan knight justice of
the supreme court, whereby the court ordered the sheriff of the town Calcutta to discharge Premehund Day late
of Boniapooker in the suburbs of the town Calcutta Podar, from the common prison of Calcutta because of the
monies he owed to Hurrymohun Ghose, Benjamin Preston and Dyalchund Bysack. [India-9/10]
4) document Calcutta dated 22 june 1833 court of insolvent debtors, before sir Edward Ryan knight justice of the
supreme court, whereby Mark Lackersteen formerly of Jacksons Ghaut street in town of Calcutta, carrying on
business with others as Lackersteen and company late of Chinahazar Gully in town of Calcutta as marine store
keepers, and now of the Danish settlement of Serampore in the province, petitioned for relief. The court ordered
the examiner Patrick O’Hanlon the enquire into the truth of the schedule what petitioner had filed with this court

5) document Calcutta dated 5 december 1833 court of insolvent debtors, before sir John Peter Grant knight justice
of the supreme court, in case of insolvency of William Fairlie Clark, William Melville, John Gilmore and William
Frederick Fergusson trading as merchants and agents, that the court appoint the following as assignees: 1) William
Calville of Calcutta indigo planter, 2) Joseph Ousely of Calcutta a captain in the honorable company’s military
service and 3) Elliot Macnaghten of Calcutta esquire. Court ordered the assignees to submit a list of the estate and
effects what amounts to halve of the money owed. Patrick O’Hanlon was the common assignee. [India14/17]
6) document Calcutta dated 18 april 1834 court of insolvent debtors, before sir John Peter Grant knight justice of the
supreme court, in case of insolvency of William Ainslie, that on application of Hagg and Sander attorneys on behalf
of William Ainslie, the court orders Patrick O'Hanlon to enquire about the schedule and the value of the property
and estate, to warrant William Ainslie petition. [India-18/20]
7) document Calcutta dated 15 november 1836 court of insolvent debtors, before sir Benjamin Heath Malkin knight
justice of the supreme court, in the case of George Richard Prendagast Becker late of Sangur in province of
Bundeleund afterwards of Berhampore in province of Bengal, lieutenant in the 4th regiment of native Infantry in
service of East India Company in their Bengal establishment, upon his petition the court appoints John Wallis
Alexander esquire as assignee, and orders that the common assignee Patrick O'Hanlon hands over to the new

8) document Calcutta dated 18 november 1837 court of insolvent debtors, before sir Edward Ryan knight justice of
the supreme court, in case of petition by Peter Foster of Hankkoliad? Gully in town of Calcutta ship builder and
owner, seeking relief of his debts on application of the attorney Shaw. In declaration of his assignee John Wallis
Alexander was stated that his property believed to be half of his debt whereby the court issued a certificate in

and session judge, Charles Garstin esquire acting judge and John Campbell Dick esquire collector all of Patna
lieutenant colonel Walter Alexander Yates and captains Henry C. Barnard, S. Blundell and John J. Somerville all
of the 51st regiment of native Infantry, in case of petition of Thomas Box insolvent later of Dinapore a lieutenant
in a compagnie of European regiment, that Thomas Box is to return to court without delay together with his

10) document Calcutta dated 19 september 1842, court of relief for insolvent debtors, before sir Lawrence Peel
knight chief justice in fort William in Bengal, in case of petition by Lewis Wilton Lackersteen formerly of the port
of Calcutta mariner, afterwards of the upper province of India assistant Indigo planter late of of Jeretta Bazar in
town of Calcutta foreman to Lackersteen and Company ship chandler but now prisoner in the common gaol of
Calcutta, whereby Marshall and Waller attorneys seeking relief on his behalf, where upon the court orders
publication in several newspapers to call for not only the main creditor but also others to be heared with the

chief justice in fort William in Bengal, in case of James Colquhoun, James Church and Hugh Colquhoun late of the
town of Calcutta merchants and agents trading business in partnership in Mangoe Lane in town of Calcutta in
Bengal under the name of Boyd and company, that on declaration of their assignee John Wallis Alexander esquire

chief justice in fort William in Bengal, in case of Andrew Hervey late of Barrackpore in the 24 Pergunnalis in
province of Bengal, a major now a lieutenant colonel in the 65th regiment of native Infantry in military service of
East India Company lately commanding said regiment, seeking relief as insolvent debtor, that on declaration of his

Calcutta as a merchant, at present residing at the Danish settlement of Serampore in province of Bengal, against
whom was lodged an adjudication of insolvency, where upon the court on petition of the assignee John Wallis
Alexander esquire orders that Simon Hyem Isaac being served to personally attend before this court to be examined

Owen attorneys seeking relief on his behalf and certificates of the prison and Patrick O'Hanlon esquire examiner of
this court, orders the court a hearing day and publication in newspapers and that the prisoner being brought before

chief justice in fort William in Bengal, in case George Richard Prendagast Becker late of Sangar in province of

17) document Calcutta dated 9 january 1846, court for relief of insolvent debtors, before sir Lawrence Peel knight chief
justice in fort William in Bengal, in case of Benjamin Walter Lazarus lately of Cossitollah in town of Calcutta cabinet
maker now a prisoner confined in common gaol of Calcutta, that seeking relief appoints the court as assignee Robert
O'Dowda and orders Patrick O'Hanlon esquire common assignee of this court, to hand over to the new assignee all

justice in fort William in Bengal, in case of Charles Thomas Osmond Woodford also as C.O. Woodford late of Jaun
Bazar first Lane in town of Calcutta m.d. and surgeon but now a prisoner confined in the common gaol of Calcutta
seeking benefit to provide relief, that his assignee Robert O. Dowda esquire is to provide articles on next hearing

19) document Calcutta dated 31 july 1847, court for relief of insolvent debtors, before sir Lawrence Peel knight chief
justice in fort William in Bengal, in case of John Fraser Lane later of the steamer Damodak in port of Calcutta mariner
and insolvent, pleading for discharge from his large number of creditors, whereby the chief clerk of this court by his
certificate states that his property are half of his debts and the creditors has consented. The court orders that the
insolvent being discharged forever and this to be published in several newspapers. [India-53/56]
20) document Calcutta dated 4 december 1847, court for relief of insolvent debtors, before sir Lawrence Peel knight
chief justice in fort William in Bengal, in case of Robert William George Frith and Henry Frederick Boucher late
merchants traders resideing at the Strand road near Colvins Phaut ion town of Calcutta, whereby Robert William
George Frith was entitled to relief of his insolvency and that his assignee John Allan has filed with the court papers

chief justice in fort William in Bengal, in case of Arrakiel Agabeg of Armenion street in Calcutta merchant lately in
Copartuership with Joseph Agabeg, Johannes Agabeg, Avetiek Galstin and Mackentiek Agabeg seeking benefit for
relief of his insolvency due to circumstances, whereby the court orders that Arrakiel Agabeg and his family submit
to them all the papers they have relating to their company - property and debts - within the limits East India

Colin Wilson Macrae lately merchants at Cliue street in town of Calcutta under the name of Lyall Matheson and
Company together with Robert Lyall the younger late of Calcutta now residing in Great Britain, seeking entitlements
for relief of their insolvensy, whereby on petition of their assignee John Cochrane esquire has filed the papers with

chief justice in fort William in Bengal, in case of Arrakiel Agabeg of Armenion street in Calcutta merchant lately in
Copartuership with Joseph Agabeg, Johannes Agabeg, Avetiek Galstin and Mackentiek Agabeg all insolvent as
per document 22-1-1851, has filed a separate petition for relief, whereby the court orders a hearing day for the

Piljie in the north west provinces and also a partner in the late firm Douglas and company of Meeneet also in the
north west provinces wine merchant and now of College square in the town of Calcutta, seeking benefit of the act

passenger carriage proprietor in de Strand road in town of Calcutta under the name Equirotal Waggon Transit
Company now Patna senior surveyor of the Patna government opium agency but at present residing in the Circular
road in town of Calcutta trader, seeking benefit of the act upon petition for relief due to his insolvency, whereby the

justice in fort William in Bengal, in case of John Peter Sylva sued by the name of J.P. Sylva a prisoner confined for
debt in common gaol of Calcutta but late of Meerut in north west provinces trading as wine merchant under name
of Sylva and company, seeking benefit from his insolvency, orders the court the insolvent being personally
