Highgate Military VAD Hospital [England]

 

brief history:

 

It was located at Byculla on Broadlands Road, Highgate.

Opened in 1916 as Highgate military VAD hospital, the big house was loaned by A. Stern and provided 32 beds.

It increased to 42 beds and 82 when adjoining property was loaned by sir Arthur Crosfield.

The 2 mansion hospital closed in 1919 and treated total 2493 wounded military.

Both houses no longer exist, the site is now occupied by Broadlands lodge apartments.
