brief history:

 

Military hospital, set up within days of the outbreak of WW1 in 1914 and treated over 70.000 of wounded soldiers between 1914-1919.

It was a spin off the Addenbrooke hospital, matron of that hospital was also matron of the 1st Eastern General Hospital Cambridge.

Headquarters was on the grounds of Trinity college.

 

It was build on a former cricket field belonging to King's and Clare colleges, had a series of pre-fabricated buildings, post office, shop,

cinema and other recreational facilities.

 

Some soldiers were also offered beds in Addenbrooke hospital.

This military hospital closed in 1919.
